AT&T U-Verse offers high speed internet connections via digital subscriber line (DSL) technology in 22 states. DSL technology utilizes the existing telephone line infrastructure to provide internet access by dividing the lines into high-frequencies (used for internet) and low-frequencies (used for voice communications). DSL allows the consumer to use the same phone line to simultaneous place and receive phone calls and to browse and use the internet.

Like most DSL connections, AT&T U-Verse offers asymmetrical connection speeds, with the upstream (from the user’s computer to the internet) being slower than the downstream (from the internet to the user’s computer) speed.

Currently, AT&T U-Verse broadband internet access is available in six speed tiers, so the consumer can choose the speed offering that works best for their needs. All of the plans offer free Wi-Fi access to AT&T U-Verse hotspots in addition to free email accounts and virtually unlimited email storage. Additionally, all of the pricing tiers offer built-in wireless home networking – with the purchase or rental of a wireless router.

AT&T U-Verse High Speed Internet Tiers

  • Express Plan – This plan has download speeds up to 1.5 megabits per second (Mbps) and maximum upload speeds up to 1.0 Mbps.
  • Pro Plan – The Pro plan offers downstream speeds up to 3.0 Mbps and upstream speeds of up to 1.0 Mbps.
  • Elite Plan – This plan offers high speed downloading as fast as 6.0 Mbps, with uploading speeds as fast at 1.0 Mbps.
  • Max Plan – The Max plan provides a connection speed up to 12.0 Mbps for downstream connections and up to 1.5 Mbps for upstream submissions.
  • Max Plus Plan – This plan offers high speed internet access as fast as 18.0 Mbps for downloading and 1.5 Mbps for uploading data to the internet.
  • Max Turbo Plan – The Max Turbo pricing tier is excellent for small businesses, as it offers internet download speeds as fast as 24.0 Mbps and upload speeds as fast as 3.0 Mbps.
