Broadband Internet From CLEAR
CLEAR offers consumers high speed internet access in eleven states; however, coverage is limited to select cities within those states. CLEAR broadband internet access is via a 4G (fourth generation) WiMAX network, which is currently being built and expanded. In addition to home connections, CLEAR offers mobile internet service plans in the cities that have been networked.
CLEAR’s 4G network connects to a modem in the consumer’s residence or small business; that modem can then be hardwired to a computer or connected to a wireless router to create coverage in the user’s home or business.
Like most current internet connections, data transmissions are faster downstream or downloading information (from the internet to the user’s computer) than they are upstream or uploading (from the user’s computer to the internet).
CLEAR currently offers three pricing tier plans from which the consumer can choose. Each plan comes with unlimited usage (under CLEAR’s “Acceptable Use Policy), easy-to-install modems, and two free email addresses.
CLEAR High Speed Internet Plans
- Basic Home – The Basic Home plan from CLEAR offers download speeds up to 1.0 megabits per second (Mbps) and upload speeds as fast as 500 kilobits per second (Kbps). This plan is good for the single home user.
- Fast Home – The Fast Home plan offers downstreaming speeds at a maximum rate of 3.0 Mbps with upstreaming speeds up to 1.0 Mbps. This plan works well for the home consumer where there is a lot of demand for high speed internet service.
- Faster Home – The Faster Home plan provides the consumer with download connections as fast as 6.0 Mbps and upload speeds up to 1.0 Mbps. This plan works well for a large home with many users needing to access the network at one time, or for consumers who need to download live video feeds or engage in online gaming. It also works for small businesses or home-based companies.
