Cox Communications provides high speed internet access to consumers in 17 states, utilizing the existing cable television network infrastructure to provide broadband connectivity. Because the internet data travels along coaxial cable, the phone lines are not affected, as happens with dial-up internet connections. Instead, the consumer needs to purchase or lease a cable modem which connects to the cable coaxial and to the consumer’s computer.
As is true for most high speed internet connections, there is a difference in speeds at which data travels from the internet to the user’s computer – called download or downstream speed – and the speed at which data travels from the user’s computer to the internet – called upload or upstream speed.
Cox Communications currently offers three different service plans or tiers of service from which the consumer can select. All of the plans come with Cox Security Suite, SpamBlocker, web mail, and personal web space for websites and blogs.
Test your internet upload and download speed and compare it to the tiers offered by Cox using our internet speed test.
