Road Runner® Broadband offers consumers high speed access to the internet by utilizing existing cable television structure. However, instead of the cable transmitting television, the signal carried by the coaxial is data for the internet. A cable modem is required to be purchased or leased by the consumer.
As with most internet connections, there is a difference in the speed of data transfer. Generally, the data being transmitted from the internet to the user’s computer (downloading or downstreaming) is transmitted faster than the data moving from the user’s computer to the internet (uploading or upstreaming).
Road Runner® Broadband currently offers three tiers of service from which the consumer can select based on the consumer’s needs. Each tier offers free internet security from spyware and malicious viruses, free webmail with multiple accounts, and free parental controls.
