In Colorado (CO) there is an increasing demand for high speed internet connections. To meet this growing need, there are a number of companies offering broadband connectivity to Colorado consumers.

Currently, there are four primary methods of providing high speed internet access: cable, digital subscriber line (DSL), fiber-optic, and satellite internet.
One of the most popular means of high speed internet access is via the existing cable television infrastructure. Broadband cable internet connections are reliable and affordable. The consumer will need to have cable connectivity and a cable modem.
In Colorado, DSL technology provides high speed internet access by way of the existing telephone network infrastructure. With DSL, the phone line is divided into high- and low-frequencies and then the internet data is sent via the high-frequencies with the lower-frequencies handling regular telephone transmission. The consumer needs to have a DSL modem and a telephone line in order to use DSL technology.
Currently, the fastest method of delivering high speed internet connectivity is with fiber-optic cable; however, this broadband access is not widely available. In order to take advantage of fiber-optic broadband connectivity, the consumer needs to have access to fiber-optic cable and a fiber-optic modem.
In Colorado’s rural and remote communities, often the best way to have a high speed internet connection is with the use of satellite internet. The consumer will need to purchase or lease a satellite dish and satellite modem.
