Baltimore Residential Internet Coverage

With dozens of neighborhoods and huge commercial areas, Baltimore is a city where consistent internet coverage is a requirement, not an option.

Fiber internet is widely available through Verizon Fios, which serves many of the largest neighborhoods in Baltimore. Service stops short of several central neighborhoods, including Greater Rosemont, Mondawin, Hampdon, Midway, and Berea.

The Verizon DSL network is available in all of Baltimore, reaching from Wakefield in the west to Pulaski in the east.

Through Windstream, high-speed internet is accessible to all of Baltimore_s neighborhoods, reaching Belvedere in the north and Curtis Bay in the south.

The RCN network is fairly limited, reaching a few southwestern neighborhoods like Irvington and Westgate, in addition to the northwestern Greater Mount Washington area. The southern tip of Baltimore is covered by Anne Arundel Broadband, which serves the neighborhoods of Fairfield, Brooklyn, and Glen. In addition, Cogent Communication brings coverage to the Reservoir Hill area.

Through XO Communications, service is available through the central part of the city and the far northern and southern parts of the city.

Central Baltimore falls in the service area of Zayo Group, which includes neighborhoods like Inner Harbor, Canton, Charles Village, and Chinquapin Park.

FiberLight brings coverage to the central neighborhoods of Federal Hill, Cherry Hill, and Fells Point. The Hotwire Communications network is very similar, reaching only a few neighborhoods in the southern half of central Baltimore.

High-speed internet access is available to all of Baltimore through Megapath, while Atlantic Broadband it available in a handful of far northwestern and northeastern neighborhoods.

Level 3 Communications has a network that covers most of Baltimore, excluding Lakeland, Homewood, Mondawin, Lower Northwood, and Belaire.

As if those options weren_t enough, cable internet is provided throughout Baltimore by Xfinity.

Xfinity customer service is by far the worst service I’ve ever had to deal with. You can’t get any help from these people after being a loyal customer. I need to find a service for internet service.

You cannot get a hold of a live person to save your life. I really don't understand how this customer service is acceptable....Not to mention that your 4G speed is like 3G

Comcast, once one is in its clutches, proceeds to regard one as a serf, duty bound to pay every increasing charges for ever diminishing download speeds and never qualifying for any of the lower priced goodies they hold out to potential new customer.Customers Comcast subscribers tend to wish that they had never joined Comcast so that they could either take advantage of the promotional offers to new customers only, or not to have to suffer the exploitation and indifference that Comcast imposes upon its existing customers. This is a company with a virtual monopoly in Baltimore that is utterly uninterested in promoting good customer relations via intelligent communication. They may always get their way with their subscribers, but they will never gain their respect or loyalty--often because they are incapable of--or uninterested in-- understanding the customer viewpoint. At Comcast the only viewpoint that can prevail is that of Comcast itself. Caveat emptor.
