Broadband Satellite From Starband

StarBand, by SpaceNet, offers high speed internet service via satellite. Broadband service coverage area for StarBand includes the 50 United States, in addition to the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. StarBand is the oldest satellite internet company in the United States.

The consumer will need to purchase a satellite dish, a mount, a feed arm, coaxial cable, and a satellite modem in order to connect to StarBand. This equipment will need to be installed by a certified technician, who will align the satellite dish for the best reception. Like all satellite-delivered high speed internet, the connection can be temporarily disrupted by precipitation, including rain and snow.

For the consumer, StarBand offers three tiers of service from which to select. Each of the tiers offers included virus and spam filtering services. As is true for most internet service providers (ISPs), the downloading or downstream (from the internet to the user’s computer) speed is usually faster than the uploading or upstream (from the user’s computer to the internet) speed.
