Frequently Asked Questions

What is the cheapest internet service in Salt Lake City?

The cheapest internet service in Salt Lake City depends on where you live. If Xfinity is available, its cheapest plan starts at $29.99 per month for the first year. The plan offers download speeds of 15 Mbps–75 Mbps, depending on your area.

UTOPIA Fiber’s 250 Mbps plans range in price from $29.95–$37.00 per month, depending on your address, which is a better deal than Xfinity’s low-cost plans. But UTOPIA has several gaps in coverage around the city. It’s more widely available in West Valley City, Murray, and Midvale than it is in Salt Lake City proper.

If you’re looking for a good deal on gigabit internet, Google Fiber and CenturyLink Fiber cost $70.00 per month and $65.00 per month respectively. Xfinity costs about $85.00 per month for gigabit, but it’s much more widely available than any of the fiber services in Salt Lake.

How much is Google Fiber per month in Salt Lake City?

Google Fiber’s prices start at $50 per month for 100 Mbps in Salt Lake City. You can also get Google Fiber’s gigabit internet plan for $70 per month. While not the cheapest internet option in the city, Google’s fiber-optic network delivers fast and reliable internet in parts of downtown Salt Lake.

If you want to add on to your Google Fiber internet, the provider lets customers bundle TV for an additional $90 or home phone service for $10.

They raise rates without notifying you and arbitrarily. You have to constantly call them to bring your rates back down to the normal level.

Internet is intermittent and causes me to lose connection with my work application. I simply cannot work from home. I paid extra for a faster download plan that didn't make any difference, only to be told they actually don't have the capability to provide this service in my area. They offered me a credit, but they should not have suggested I purchase a service they cannot provide in the first place.

A nightmare from beginning to end. I ordered service that was supposed to be turned on by a certain date, with a modem sent to me a week before. One week later, no modem, no service. Hours on the phone with them and apparently they lost my modem. No one could account for it. Eventually I finally received the modem. The service was ok until I started needing to do video calls, and then the internet connection was constantly dropping calls, slowing down and then speeding up. I recently upgraded to google fiber (fantastic!!) and was trying to cancel my service. I tried for days, on hold for probably a total of 2 hrs being transferred around multiple times. I was hung up on. Finally someone was able to help me. This is literally the worst customer service experience I have ever had, and pretty crappy internet as well. Customers Beware!!!
