Las Vegas Residential Internet Coverage

Las Vegas is a well-connected city. Virtually 100% of Vegas residents have access to broadband internet speeds, which the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) defines as 25 Mbps download speeds and 3 Mbps upload speeds. And most residents have access to speeds even faster than that.

The only downside for Vegas residents is the lack of choices. While you have plenty of fast internet packages to choose from, those packages are mostly offered by just two providers: CenturyLink and Cox. Satellite internet from Viasat is also an option if you’re prepared to deal with latency.

The most widely available providers throughout the city are definitely Cox and CenturyLink. Folks living inside the beltway have the advantage of fast internet available from either ISP (Internet Service Provider).

The Cox service area stretches from Boulder City to Mount Charleston and from Nellis Air Force Base to near the Jean Airport, but it doesn’t cover the Bonnie Springs area.

CenturyLink offers service across an even larger area. Its coverage reaches down to Bullhead City and all the way up to Coyote Springs. It also offers service in Moapa Valley, south of I-15. CenturyLink doesn’t fully cover the Lake Mead or Sloan Canyon areas.

Highest-Rated Internet Service Providers in Las Vegas

Cox was the highest-rated landline internet provider in Las Vegas in our 2018 independent customer satisfaction survey. It beat out CenturyLink in every section accept the monthly bill category.

These ratings hold true using other metrics too. Cox Communications in Las Vegas has an A rating with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). CenturyLink is not rated and has some red flags with the BBB, namely an unresolved government action regarding customers complaining they’re being charged more than they agreed on.

Cox Communications is also the highest rated ISP in the West, according to J.D. Power. Not only does J.D. Power rank Cox ahead of CenturyLink, but it also ranks Cox ahead of industry giants AT&T, Spectrum, and Xfinity.

While Cox dominated CenturyLink on the ground, Viasat rules the skies. Customers rated Viasat, a satellite ISP, higher than both CenturyLink and Cox in every category in our survey, including reliability. These ratings indicate that Viasat is an excellent option for customers who don’t mind the limitations of satellite internet.

Took a day off work, waited several hours for the install, drilling for mounting equipment, only to find out that there’s no service in our area. Completely flabbergasted that they’d try to send someone out to install and waste time. Felt bad for the installer.

I've been a customer in good standing for over 2 decades. I'm 74 on social security that barely covers my rent. I'm required to pay all my bills online and TV is my only entertainment and cox has raised my bill to over $200 a month. They have NO senior or good customer benefits, they are greedy and liars about getting us plans we can live with. $202. a month is no deal!!! Especially when their Edge browser doesn't respond off and on the entire time you are using it.....it's a tragedy the amount of money they are stealing from us.
