Broadband Internet from Mediacom

Mediacom Communications offers consumers broadband and high speed internet access through the company’s cable television network infrastructure, delivering high speed internet connectivity through the coaxial cable. Currently, Mediacom has broadband internet service in 22 states, and concentrates on providing service to non-metropolitan parts of the country.

In order to have a cable internet connection, the consumer will need to lease or purchase a cable modem and have cable connectivity in their home, condominium, apartment, or place of business. Mediacom offers installation service, or the consumer can install the modem on their own.

Most internet connections offer connectivity at two different speeds; the upload or upstream speed – from the user’s computer to the internet – is usually slower than the download or downstream speed – from the internet to the user’s computer.
