WOW! Internet speeds: What’s best for you?

The WOW! Fiber 500 plan is ideal for an average household. It provides 500 Mbps of internet speed for only $50.00 per month—that’s plenty of speed for a family of four to stream, download, and game without missing a beat. To sweeten the deal, the Fiber 500 plan comes with a free rental modem for the first year and an enormous 2.5 TB data cap.

Customers with more modest bandwidth needs should consider the Fiber 100 plan. You get 100 Mbps speeds for just $30 per month. It’s hard to find any internet plan that cheap. And while WOW! Fiber 100 isn’t the fastest plan out there, it suits a single or two-person household.

WOW! Internet data caps

WOW! has some of the most generous data caps we’ve seen from any internet provider. Faster WOW! plans get higher data caps. This gives you more control over your data allowance than the common ISP practice of applying a single data cap (usually around 1 TB) to all internet plans. Need more data? Purchase a faster internet plan.

Again, the Fiber 500 plan seems to have the best value, providing 2.5 TB of data per month—that’s about double the data an average household needs.

Find the data cap for each WOW! Internet plan in the table above.

Our favorite plan: WOW! Fiber 500

WOW! Fiber 500 is hard to beat. It provides 500 Mbps speeds at a great price ($50/mo.). Additionally, you get a high 2.5 TB data cap and a free rental modem for the first year. The Fiber 500 plan packs an ideal mix of speed, value, and perks, making it the best pick for most customers.

WOW! Internet fees

Cost
Modem/router rental$14.00

Cancellation FeeNone
Post-promotion price hike$5.00–$15.00/mo.
Data overage fee$1.00 per 50 GB (up to $50.00/mo.)

WOW!’s fees are fairly standard, but the good news is you can get around most of them. Every plan comes with a free self-install kit, which can help customers avoid the $50 install fee. The high-tier plans waive the modem rental fee for the first year, and the Internet 1.2 Gig comes with free modem rental indefinitely.

Data cap overage fees shouldn’t be a problem for most customers either. WOW! data caps are set high compared to other ISPs.

WOW! Internet installation, equipment, and contracts

WOW! offers free self-installation for all its internet plans. WOW!’s internet is one of the easiest types of internet to install on your own, provided your home is connected to WOW!’s fiber network.

Regarding equipment, you have the option to either purchase your own or rent an internet gateway for $14 per month—many plans waive the rental fee for the first year. For large homes, WOW! offers its premium Wi-Fi package for an extra $9.99 per month, which includes a mesh router capable of covering a huge area. Keep in mind that you can purchase your own mesh router too; we’ve got a great guide on the best mesh routers of 2023.

WOW! Internet contracts

WOW! Internet plans have no term contracts—you can stop service at any time.

WOW! fiber internet stacks up well against the competition. Customers receive fast and reliable internet service at a good price. Additionally, WOW! offers flexible perks like generous data caps and no contracts.

WOW!’s flexibility sets it apart. All WOW! Internet plans have no term contracts, meaning you can cancel your service whenever you like. Also, WOW! has a unique approach to data caps: WOW! data caps increase with plan speed. This allows customers to choose something that fits their needs, as opposed to the usual approach of applying the same data cap to all plans.
