How Verizon compares to the competition

Verizon does better than most of its competitors in our annual customer satisfaction survey, getting top or near-the-top rankings for speed, reliability, price, customer service, and overall satisfaction.

Verizon Fios is a better deal than plans offered by cable providers like Xfinity, Cox, and Spectrum—the fiber network gets you faster speeds at comparable (and sometimes cheaper) prices. Verizon’s 5G service isn’t as widely available, but it also makes an excellent alternative to cable with its lower prices and competitive speeds.

FAQ

Is there an annual contract requirement for Verizon internet?
Verizon does not have annual contracts on any of its internet plans. You can cancel any time without paying early termination fees.
Does Verizon charge for equipment?

Verizon Fios and Verizon 5G Home Internet plans all come with a gateway (a combination modem and router), which you get at no extra charge.

The gigabit plan also includes Whole Home Wi-Fi, a feature that extends your Wi-Fi reception to hard-to-reach places where there are usually internet dead zones. If you have the 300Mbps and 500Mbps plans, you pay $10 extra per month for Whole Home Wi-Fi. Cloud storage also costs an additional $20 per month on those plans.

What are the installation fees for Verizon internet?

Verizon charges $99 to install its Fios service, but the fee gets waived when you order online. There is no charge to install 5G Home Internet or 5G Home Internet Plus.

What internet services does Verizon internet offer?

Verizon offers Fios fiber internet and 5G Home Internet. Fios runs over fiber-optic cabling, making it super fast and reliable. 5G Home Internet runs over Verizon’s 5G wireless network, which is slower, but still reliable, and prices are much cheaper.

How fast is Verizon internet?

Verizon internet reaches speeds of up to 2,300Mbps in some areas, but in most markets you can get maximum speeds of 1,000Mbps on its 5G or Fios connection.
