Cox Internet customers have exclusive access to two of the most attractively priced mobile phone plans on the market. Customers can choose between pay-as-you-go ($15/mo.) or unlimited data ($45/mo.). Cox Mobile uses the Verizon cell network, so these plans come with excellent coverage throughout the U.S.
The one catch is that you must have Cox Internet to be eligible for Cox Mobile—TV-only customers don’t make the cut. Other than that, all Cox Internet customers are eligible for Cox mobile. If you can get Cox Mobile, we recommend you take advantage as you’d be hard-pressed to find such a quality mobile plan at these prices anywhere else.

Optimum Mobile uses T-Mobile’s 4G LTE and 5G networks to deliver cellular service. Unlike Spectrum, you don’t need Optimum’s internet to use Optimum Mobile, but if you bundle and cancel internet later, expect a surcharge of $20 per line per month.
You get multi-line savings when you add lines two through five. For example, your per-line cost drops to $30 monthly for four Unlimited lines—$25 per line monthly for five unlimited lines. You can have only five Optimum Mobile lines per account, so you may want to sign up with T-Mobile directly if you have multiple phones, tablets, and smart gear (like Apple Watch) with cellular connections.
The “unlimited” mobile plans are technically just that, but T-Mobile throttles your speed once you use the amount specified above. We cover the throttled speeds later on.
Should you bundle a Cox Mobile plan with Cox Internet?
If you already have Cox’s internet service, signing up for Cox Mobile is a no-brainer. The service is every bit as capable as the big carrier mobile plans but for much less. All plans are unlimited talk and text in the US (excluding territories), and the data rates are almost certainly better than anything from your usual big carriers. On top of all that, Cox Mobile uses the Verizon network, so you receive superb cell service with Cox Mobile, just at a huge discount.
Pros:
- Great pricing
- Excellent cell service (Verizon network)
- Easy onboarding
Cons:
- Requires Cox Internet
Cox Mobile sign up and onboarding
Signing up for Cox Mobile is easy. You can complete the whole process online in minutes, and Cox ships your mobile onboarding kit to your residence. You can bring your own phone or purchase a new one through Cox. Cox also offers Asurion device protection plans.
Fine print
There are a few fine print details to be aware of. Cox charges a one-time $10 device activation fee that is added to your first bill. And regarding data, the first 20 GB of data on either of Cox’s two mobile plans are premium data, after that, speeds are slowed to approximately 1.5 Mbps.

Cox vs. the competition
Because Cox’s mobile plans are so cheap, it’s a much better option than a standard cell plan from one of the big carriers.
There are other Mobile + Internet deals to be had, but price-wise, Cox tends to come out ahead of those as well.
Cox Internet + Mobile vs. T-Mobile Internet + Mobile
Bundle | Total price | Internet speed | Monthly Mobile data | Order online |
---|---|---|---|---|
Cox Internet Preferred 250 No Contract + Gig Unlimited | $104.99* | 250 Mbps | Unlimited | View Plans |
Go5G Plus + T-Mobile 5G Home Internet | $120.00/mo.† | 72–245 Mbps | Unlimited | View Plans |
Cox’s Unlimited Mobile plan, along with a 250 Mbps internet plan, comes in cheaper than a similar offering from T-Mobile. The savings come from Cox’s low mobile pricing. But where T-Mobile makes up for it is in mobile plan variety, unlimited home internet data, and a super breezy setup. So, while what’s best for you depends on your specific needs, if price is your top concern, Cox is tough to beat.
