Why is my Breezeline internet speed slower than advertised?

Breezeline advertises max speeds of 1,000Mbps, but the average test results are much slower at just 125.08Mbps. That’s because only a fraction of internet users sign up for plans with the fastest speeds, while the majority opt to save money with plans that deliver modest bandwidth. Even when you do have the fastest speeds, you may get a connection that’s slower than advertised due to your Wi-Fi signal, router, and other factors.

About our Breezeline internet speed test

The Breezeline internet speed measures three things:

Download speed: The speed at which your device pulls data from the internet. Usually measured in Mbps or Gbps.

Upload speed: The speed at which your device sends data to the internet. Usually measured in Mbps or Gbps.

Latency (Ping): The time (measured in milliseconds) it takes for a signal to travel from your device to an internet server and back. Lower latency means your connection has a better response time for activities like gaming and livestreams.

How does the Breezeline internet speed test work?

Our Breezeline speed test works by sending a signal to a nearby test server and measuring how long it takes for the server to respond. The test also opens multiple simultaneous connections to the server to download and upload small pieces of data. Through that process, the test is able to determine how long it takes to collect and deliver the data and the amount of network bandwidth used in the process.

Breezeline internet speed FAQ

How fast are Breezeline internet speeds?

Breezeline internet reaches max speeds of 1,000Mbps, but you can get plans at a range of speed tiers. The slowest Breezeline plan tops out at 100Mbps, which is a solid speed for many small homes and individual users.

How do I get faster internet?

You can get faster internet by upgrading your internet plan. If you can’t upgrade your current speeds and feel stuck with bad service, you can also switch to a new provider.

Run a search with your zip code below to see what kinds of speeds you can get in your area.

Is cable better than fiber and DSL?

Cable internet plans typically don’t hit multi-gigabit speeds like fiber can, and most cable plans can’t deliver fiber’s symmetrical upload and download speeds. But cable is much more widely available than fiber, and it can still deliver extremely fast speeds over a reliable connection. And cable is much faster than DSL, which operates over outdated telephone networks and can only reach top speeds of 100Mbps.
