So, what’s the deal with the Xfinity deal?
From July 14 to Oct. 21, 2025, Xfinity is offering a discount on internet service exclusively to college students. The monthly discount depends on the plan students select—up to $30 off. They also have the option to choose one-year or five-year pricing.
But that’s not all. Students also receive up to $200 in gift cards, depending on the plan they choose. All participating students get unlimited data, a rent-free Xfinity WiFi Gateway, and one line of Xfinity Mobile Unlimited for 12 months at no extra cost.
That’s quite the deal, right? You know it. There’s no contract to sign or early termination fees to pay, either, so students are under no obligation to keep the service if they want to switch.
How do students qualify for Xfinity’s deal?
College students eager to get fast, new internet must provide the following to qualify for Xfinity’s exclusive deal for students:
- First and last name
- Date of birth
- The university/school they attend
- An email address (.edu is preferred but not required)
An Xfinity representative will verify this information using SheerID before opening a new Xfinity account.
What plans qualify for the student discount?
Below are the one-year and five-year prices offered through Xfinity’s back-to-school promotion for college students. The discounted prices are guaranteed, even if the student decides to cancel service before the one- or five-year period ends. There’s no contract to sign, so there’s no early-termination penalty for cancelling service early.
New subscribers also receive a $100 or $200 gift card, depending on the plan they choose. Take a look:
1-year price | 5-year price | Gift card amount | |
---|---|---|---|
300 Mbps | $30/mo.* | $45/mo. | $100 |
1 Gig | $40/mo.* | $55/mo. | $200 |
2 Gig | $50/mo.* | $65/mo. | $200 |
* Offer ends 9/14/2025. New Xfinity Internet customers only.
The gift card isn’t the only perk
While getting a gift card is the best perk ever, Xfinity packs in a few additional goodies that make this deal the best ever for college students.
The Xfinity WiFi Gateway
The Xfinity WiFi Gateway is a game-changer. This single device combines a DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem with a Wi-Fi 6E router. It supports a maximum throughput of 2.5Gbps, giving you more than what students need for Xfinity’s fastest internet plan. It includes two telephone ports, too, in case students need to add voice service. Plus, installation is free.
Unlimited data
Xfinity typically limits data use to 1.2TB per month, while unlimited data is an extra $30 per month. That’s not the case with Xfinity’s student deal—they get unlimited data at no extra cost.
One Xfinity Mobile Unlimited line for 12 months
Students get one line of Unlimited mobile phone service at no extra cost for 12 months—if they’re a new Xfinity Mobile customer. Students get unlimited talk, text, and data (speeds reduced after 30GB) that’s all backed by Xfinity’s WiFi PowerBoost. Need unlimited mobile hotspot data? Students get that, too. Need a new device to go with that new mobile plan? Xfinity has plenty of deals there.
Xfinity’s cable internet is required to use Xfinity Mobile, so keep that in mind.
How do students get the gift card?
Around 14 weeks after activating service, students receive a virtual gift card link via the email account associated with their new Xfinity account. After that, they do the following:
Step 1: Select the link to visit the redemption website.
Step 2: Allocate the total gift card value to one, two, or three virtual prepaid card options:
- Amazon (devices, books, fun stuff)
- Uber Eats (yummies, no-time-to-cook days)
- Mastercard (ride shares, bus passes, whatevs)
Ready to get Xfinity’s deal? Act now!
Look, money can be really tight for college students, like eating rice with ketchup for weeks, tight. We get it. Been there, done that.
The last thing college students need to worry about is finding a fast and affordable plan at the start of the fall semester. Xfinity aims to alleviate some of that back-to-school pressure through its exclusive deal for college students.
However, don’t dilly-dally around. The deal ends on Oct. 21, 2025, so now is the time to get great speeds and reliability at a highly affordable rate before it’s too late.
That’s not just promo talk either. We’re not clucking like a house full of hens. Xfinity ranks fourth in average internet speeds in the nation based on our proprietary data, putting it just slightly behind fiber internet providers like Google Fiber and Verizon Fios. Xfinity is definitely the golden egg if all you can get is cable internet.
Nuff said. Select the button to get started!
