Columbia Residential Internet Coverage

The fifth largest city in Missouri, Columbia's homes are relatively expensive. Residents work in white-collar industries, largely using computers and math. Columbia is also a college town. Many of the well-educated residents work in the education sector, including at the college. They're also upper-middle class and enjoy low traffic. Columbia residents depend on internet to further their educational and career goals. Compared with 79% of Missouri, 98% of Columbia residents have access to high-speed internet.

Fiber optics have not yet reached the residential market. Cable internet is provided to 98% of Columbia homes by Mediacom. Charter also provides cable internet services to 17% of Columbia homes from the river to County Rd. 144. DSL is provided to 96% of Columbia residents by CenturyLink.

Local businesses have two other options. Copper wire from TW Telecom and fiber optics from Level 3 Communications each reach 1% of commercial enterprises.

I have been with Spectrum for 4 yrs. The service was fair because it kept going out and had to reboot. About 1 yr ago guess they found the problem at last and service was better We went with this service because it was the only one available at the time When another provider came we decided to switch. Higher speed and lower cost I’m very disappointed in spectrum. They charged me for a month when I only used their service for 2 days. Apparently they do not prorate this was after I asked them to disconnect and returned their equipment. So beware of this. It was an 80 dollar bill I do not want to pay

This is by far the most awful ISP I've ever had in my life. Frequent outages, rude and slow customer service, occasionally spotty internet and often slow speeds. Definitely try to get another ISP in your area if possible. If not possible, be prepared to spend way too much money, deal with customer service reps trying to sell you something you don't need for the worst internet in America.

I'm in an outage more than I am able to use my services. When asked about a credit, they determine whether or not you get the credit. If your service is out for 4 hours or more you're eligible for the credit, but I'd much rather be able to use my internet, wifi services and at least watch my TV. I WOULD NOT recommend Spectrum.
