Tucson Residential Internet Coverage

With over half a million people living within its limits, not to mention the thousands living in surrounding suburbs, Tucson has a large variety of internet service providers at different price points and speeds.

Fiber is available to some of Tucson through CenturyLink Prism. Service is currently limited to far eastern parts of Tucson, including Rita Ranch and Civano. CenturyLink has a much broader service area, and in fact they make internet available to the entirety of Tucson.

Those looking for cable internet can look into Xfinity. In the southeastern area of Tucson, coverage reaches Midvale Park. Service stretches as far north as Flowing Wells, Mountain View, and Oak Flower. In the central and western areas, covered neighborhoods include South Park, Las Villas, and Western Hills.

In addition, many Tucson neighborhoods enjoy coverage through TW Telecom, although service stops short of most eastern neighborhoods. All of Tucson is within the service area of Megapath, however.

Through Level 3 Communications, people in northern Tucson and southeastern Tucson have access to internet options. However, this company does not serve much of central Tucson. Neighborhoods with access to Level 3 Communications coverage include Limberlost, Campus Farm, and La Madera.

Fiber:

Fiber relies on glass strands to relay digital code and is much faster than both DSL and cable.

I am cox customer over 20+years, started in TV cable age, then cable network. Now all TV channels moves to online service and only need high speed internet from Cox. Signed up with Gigablast plan, download speed up to 1 G speed, was really fast in first 2 years after that my daily speed is under 100 Mbps, average 93.4 Mbps (this is under 10% of advertised speed, very bad), upload is about the same sometimes faster at 94 Mbps. I will look for another option that delivers at least close to what is promised.

Fantastic price. 100% fiber. So far after 4 months 100% reliability. True gig speed. Only downside is no static IPs and a blind NAT.

Did not get speed as advertised. Even when standing right next to the wireless modem.

Methodology

HighSpeedInternet.com compares internet providers within cities and metro areas to give customers the most relevant insights into their internet options. When comparing providers, we consider the following:

  • Provider coverage areas
  • Advertised speeds
  • Real-world speeds (speed test data)
  • Customer feedback
  • Other relevant localized data

We source localized coverage data displayed on our coverage maps from the FCC coverage database, which is updated every six months. For the most current summary of providers in your area, we recommend you use our zip code search tool, which offers the most recent coverage data straight from internet service providers (ISPs).

Our city overviews compare advertised provider speeds. We may also include real-world speed data gathered from millions of annual speed test results. To process our speed test data, we first filter out outliers and providers with low test counts. We then calculate speed averages with every ISP subject to the same parameters.

We gather ISP customer feedback data from our comprehensive annual surveys and direct customer feedback submitted to HighSpeedInternet.com. Unless stated otherwise, average ratings are calculated nationally.
