Wichita Residential Internet Coverage

The growing city of Wichita has widespread internet coverage that meets the needs of residential and business customers.

One of the largest companies in this city is AT&T. DSL is available in all of Wichita on AT&T's network. The service area stretches from Delano Township in the northwest to Northeast Heights, and from Southwest Village to Oakview in the southeast. Service covers central areas like Linwood, McCormick, Sunnyside, and East Front. AT&T brings fiber to many parts of Wichita, and its fiber network is still being built out throughout the Midwest. The company brings consistent service to neighborhoods near the McConnell Air Force Base, including Chisholm Creek, Fabrique, and Eastridge.

LICT Corporation is another internet provider in this area, although they currently only serve a small part of southwestern Wichita in the Riverside neighborhood.

Satellite internet is available in basically all of Wichita through Hughesnet. This includes central neighborhoods and the city limits in all four directions.

For the last few years cox has been absolutely unsatisfactory. Homelife commercials look amazing. In reality they are awful. Bad quality visuals, cameras not linking. Cost to update cameras that were supposed to be "state of the art" are soon as bad as the ones replaced. Service interruptions are frequent, then everything has to be reset. Prices are out of control and seem to crop up frequently.

Cox customer service and tech support is awful. About 10 calls to try and reset password. Told that I would have to go to Cox store to reset. Cox stores are open 10 to 6 Monday through Friday, I guess if you have a job you cannot reset your password. I have banking and brokerage accounts with companies that either have no consumer locations or only in New York City. I hope they do not adopt the crazy security protocol of Cox or I will not have access to my money! Cox is always a mess with customer service but this is it with Cox.

Methodology

HighSpeedInternet.com compares internet providers within cities and metro areas to give customers the most relevant insights into their internet options. When comparing providers, we consider the following:

  • Provider coverage areas
  • Advertised speeds
  • Real-world speeds (speed test data)
  • Customer feedback
  • Other relevant localized data

We source localized coverage data displayed on our coverage maps from the FCC coverage database, which is updated every six months. For the most current summary of providers in your area, we recommend you use our zip code search tool, which offers the most recent coverage data straight from internet service providers (ISPs).

Our city overviews compare advertised provider speeds. We may also include real-world speed data gathered from millions of annual speed test results. To process our speed test data, we first filter out outliers and providers with low test counts. We then calculate speed averages with every ISP subject to the same parameters.

We gather ISP customer feedback data from our comprehensive annual surveys and direct customer feedback submitted to HighSpeedInternet.com. Unless stated otherwise, average ratings are calculated nationally.
