What Do You Actually Pay for Verizon Internet?
Find out what to expect on your monthly bill

Brand Guides
Verizon bills match up with advertised prices. Whether you have fiber, LTE Home, or 5G Home Internet from the company, your monthly bills will be free of the extra fees you might find with competing internet providers.
That’s because Verizon doesn’t charge for Wi-Fi equipment and folds taxes and fees into standard monthly pricing.

Your first Verizon internet bill
Expect to pay more on your first bill than you will on your regular monthly bill. First, activation or installation fees could be added to your bill (but are sometimes waived if you order online). Check your broadband nutrition label during checkout to see what you’ll be charged.
Second, there will be prorated charges for a partial month of service. If you start on July 26, for example, your first bill will include August and five days of service for July.
Third, you could be charged a deposit worth up to $250 if you fail a mandatory credit check.
Finally, it’s possible your first bill won’t show the $10 discount for signing up for autopay and paperless billing, but you may receive a credit down the line.

Your monthly Verizon internet bill
After your first month, your Verizon internet bill should match advertised prices. Most of the time, all taxes and fees are part of the total price. In comparison, almost all other providers charge more than they advertise.
If you use add-on services with Verizon, these charges will also show up on monthly bills. You could see line items for Netflix and Max, the Disney Bundle, YouTube Premium, or even data storage and a tech support plan.
Billing for Verizon mobile and TV services
Unfortunately, billing is more complicated for Verizon Fios TV and mobile. If you also purchased other Verizon services, like Verizon Fios TV or Verizon Mobile, you’ll see these charges on your bill.
Additional fees on Verizon Fios TV:
- Movie rentals and pay-per-view charges
- Broadcast TV fee
- Regional sports fees
- Set-top box fees (if you have more than one)
Additional fees on voice and mobile bills from Verizon:
- Government taxes and surcharges
- Device and accessory charges
- Verizon wireless surcharges, which include a regulatory charge
If you have Verizon 5G or LTE home internet, you may not be able to add Verizon Fios TV. But you might not want to, anyway.
That’s because you can add YouTube TV to any Verizon internet plan (including Fios). If you do, you’ll pay just the advertised price plus taxes—no broadcast or sport fees included. You’ll even get a $10 monthly discount for the first year of service.
You can also buy a $69 Stream TV from Verizon when you sign up, but there’s no rental option. If you do, you might be charged sales taxes.
Verizon internet plans and prices
Verizon offers three Fios plans on its fiber network, two plans on its 5G home internet network, and two plans on its LTE home internet network. The company’s biggest fiber footprint is in the Northeast. Verizon LTE is widely available in rural areas, and Verizon 5G is available in cities and suburbs in many other parts of the country.
Fiber only reaches certain addresses, though, so you’ll need to give Verizon yours to see if your home is eligible. For 5G and LTE, availability is dependent on how busy the network is in any given neighborhood, so you might not be able to get service even if your neighbor has it.

Recent Verizon internet rate changes
Verizon hasn’t made significant changes to overall internet prices in a few years, but did decrease its autopay discount from $10 per month to $5 per month for some existing mobile customers (unless they switched to a new MyPlan option).
We like the pricing model overall, though. Verizon won’t put you on a promotional rate and hike your prices after a few years either.
In fact, you might be able to get a price lock if you live in a Verizon Fios area. Here’s what the company is offering as of August 2024.
