Lakeland Residential Internet Coverage

Just east of Tampa, the city of Lakeland provides residents with a short drive to the coast and the conveniences of suburban living. This includes high-speed internet, which aims to serve both residential and business customers.

Those who want fiber internet can choose Frontier, which covers some Lakeland neighborhoods. Included neighborhoods are Paul A. Diggs, Tigertown, Dixieland, and Cleveland Hills.

Fiber service is also offered by FPL FiberNet. The FPL FiberNet network runs through central neighborhoods like Lake Bonnet, Lake Morton, and Lake Bonny Park. Service is unavailable north of Memorial Boulevard or south of Arlana Street. Many other providers offer cable and DSL.

The Frontier Communications DSL network is one of the largest in this area, reaching all of Lakeland. Megapath shares the same distinction.

Last but certainly not least, another expansive ISP in Lakeland is Brighthouse Networks. This company brings coverage to all of Lakeland.

Fiber:

Fiber relies on glass strands to relay digital code and is much faster than both DSL and cable.

Even with the gig service, we never see much over 170 regardless of time of day. The service itself is stable, but the supplied wireless router is horrible and drops connections regularly. After several exchanges, a TP-Link router purchased from Amazon eliminated that problem and provided stronger signal throughout our home.

I pay over 120.00 a month for gigabit speed, but I checked and I have maybe 29mbps at any given time. My network frequently goes down or is degraded. I really wish I had more options.

I highly do not recommend this company. They will promise you all kinds of stuff to switch and you will meet every requirement and they will continually come up with more and more hoops to jump through and then try to get out of the promotional gift card by offering a credit. I don't want a $400 credit I want my gift card I was promised!

Methodology

HighSpeedInternet.com compares internet providers within cities and metro areas to give customers the most relevant insights into their internet options. When comparing providers, we consider the following:

  • Provider coverage areas
  • Advertised speeds
  • Real-world speeds (speed test data)
  • Customer feedback
  • Other relevant localized data

We source localized coverage data displayed on our coverage maps from the FCC coverage database, which is updated every six months. For the most current summary of providers in your area, we recommend you use our zip code search tool, which offers the most recent coverage data straight from internet service providers (ISPs).

Our city overviews compare advertised provider speeds. We may also include real-world speed data gathered from millions of annual speed test results. To process our speed test data, we first filter out outliers and providers with low test counts. We then calculate speed averages with every ISP subject to the same parameters.

We gather ISP customer feedback data from our comprehensive annual surveys and direct customer feedback submitted to HighSpeedInternet.com. Unless stated otherwise, average ratings are calculated nationally.
