From the action-packed punches of the Marvel shows to the sci-fi suspense of Stranger Things, these are the Netflix shows that kept Americans awake on a bedtime binge in 2018.

America’s favorite Netflix show is 13 Reasons Why, and it’s not The End of the F***ing World.

The favorite show for most states is 13 Reasons Why. It won the hearts of seven states, just edging out The End of the F***ing World, which was the most popular in six states.

These shows tackle some heavy subjects. If their popularity is any indication of the nation’s psyche, then we may need even more help than we thought.

There are 47 states with a new favorite Netflix show.

Comparing 2017’s Most Popular Netflix Show in Each State to the 2018 results, we see that most states have changed allegiance. Only four states have the same favorite show as they did in 2017.

Louisiana—Orange Is the New Black
Missouri—Ozark
Utah—Stranger Things
West Virginia—Orange Is the New Black

Orange Is the New Black locked up its popularity in five states.

The most popular Netflix show of 2017, Orange Is the New Black, lost some of its popularity but not all of it. In 2017, it was the most popular in 15 states, but this year it comes just after The End of the F***ing World in five states.

Daredevil’s increasing popularity can’t save it.

Marvel’s Daredevil is the most popular Netflix show in five states, too, but unlike Orange Is the New Black, Daredevil’s popularity seems to be increasing. In 2017, no state had Daredevil as it’s most searched show. Despite the rise in interest, Netflix recently announced it’s canceling the show. But, the owner of the rights to the Daredevil character, Marvel, may have left Netflix no choice.

When will Stranger Things 3 happen?! The people want to know.

Stranger Things also saw an uptick in interest since 2017. It went from claiming just one state (Utah) to four: Colorado, Idaho, Nebraska, and Utah. Fans in these states are likely searching for info on the highly anticipated Stranger Things 3 release date.

Washington, DC, is gridlocked by too many interests.

Washington, DC, loves Netflix so much that it can’t decide what to watch next. It had a 16-way tie for its favorite show.
