Dayton Residential Internet Coverage

Numerous internet service providers offer residential and business plans to the large city of Dayton.

Through AT&T, most of Dayton can access the internet via DSL, fiber, or both. Coverage reaches most of the central neighborhoods of Dayton, including Five Points, Wall Creek, Mcpherson and Springfield. Coverage stops short of the far western communities of Northern Hills, Greenwich Village, Little Richmond, and Residence Park.

Frontier Communications is another growing internet service provider in Dayton, serving much of the western part of the city. Neighborhoods that fall into this company's service area include Stoney Ridge, Highview Hills, and Arlington Heights. Service is available in some far eastern communities, including Patterson Park, Belmont, and Eastmont.

Local provider Cincinnati Bell has a stable network in Dayton. They provide service to most of the city, with the exception of northwestern neighborhoods like Northridge Estates and North Riverdale. Southwestern communities that are not in this company's service area include Stoney Ridge and Miami Chapel.

In addition to everything above, high-speed cable service is available in all of Dayton through Time Warner Cable.

Worst experience ever every time I call them. They have an account for every service versus one. It's confusing as H to get logged in. Customer Service takes forever. Took an hour to pull my billing for taxes up. Right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. Untrained customer service.

I switched to time warner because they offered faster service than AT&T. It offers good stability for most of my devices we can do multiple things at once without it disconnecting many of the connections. That part of my internet is great and they get an automatic 3 stars in the speed and overall department because of that. The downfall and why they haven't earned more stars are in the following areas. They have poor customer service, usually outsourced to foreign people who usually give you a routine of how to powercycle and so forth before they finally send someone to your house AGAIN to fix the lines. I think there are a lot of poor lines in this area. Sometimes, there are short blackouts, but usually it has been fixed within 24 hours so I'm not going to deduct from their overall score.

In the past, Time Warner was actually good. The cable rarely went out and if the internet went out, it would be back in at least an hour. Now, the internet works whenever it feels like it. For the past week or two, the internet will drop for no reason. Oh, they say its an "outage" but when it happens every day or every other day, two to three hours a day, or one time at least eight times before the evening hours, it becomes more obvious that whose ever in charge either doesn't care for customer service or has no idea who to hire to keep services up. To make manners worse, good luck getting a good video stream for any site not named YouTube and Netflix. Add in terrible customer service and dozens of reports from many customers on their billing issues?

I was an ATT customer for twenty-five years. We always had good service from them until last year. I called to update/upgrade my service and the CSR sold me a package that I could not have. I could not get the issue resolved so I switched to TWC. I am in the process of switching back to DTV and ATT as a bundle. Once again, ATT has proven that my reasons for leaving the first time were valid. POOR SERVICE! Their pricing and speed are no better or worse than anyone else in the area. Therefore, service is the deal breaker here. Anyone have any suggestions for internet service other than ATT and TWC? I can do without TV, but I have a student and work-from-home husband who depend on high speed, reliable internet service. Again, service being the key.

Methodology

HighSpeedInternet.com compares internet providers within cities and metro areas to give customers the most relevant insights into their internet options. When comparing providers, we consider the following:

  • Provider coverage areas
  • Advertised speeds
  • Real-world speeds (speed test data)
  • Customer feedback
  • Other relevant localized data

We source localized coverage data displayed on our coverage maps from the FCC coverage database, which is updated every six months. For the most current summary of providers in your area, we recommend you use our zip code search tool, which offers the most recent coverage data straight from internet service providers (ISPs).

Our city overviews compare advertised provider speeds. We may also include real-world speed data gathered from millions of annual speed test results. To process our speed test data, we first filter out outliers and providers with low test counts. We then calculate speed averages with every ISP subject to the same parameters.

We gather ISP customer feedback data from our comprehensive annual surveys and direct customer feedback submitted to HighSpeedInternet.com. Unless stated otherwise, average ratings are calculated nationally.
