Verizon Offers Free Gig Speed Internet to Wireless Customers

New fiber customers qualify for six months free

If you live in a Frontier internet area and subscribe to Verizon Wireless services, it’s your lucky day! Verizon is offering six months of free fiber internet to new residential internet customers.

You’ll get speeds fast enough to support dozens of connected devices simultaneously, with symmetrical upload and download speeds. You’ll enjoy seamless connectivity whether you’re livestreaming to Twitch, binging the latest season of Stranger Things, or downloading big files for work (or even binging and working at the same time).

On Jan. 15, Verizon secured all the regulatory approvals it needed to take over Frontier’s home internet network. The $20 billion transaction was finalized on Tuesday, Jan. 20.

Verizon CEO Dan Schulman welcomed Frontier to the company in a press release.

“Our combined strength immediately creates an unparalleled fiber network,” Schulman wrote. “By seamlessly integrating Frontier’s lightning fast network with the award-winning Fios we instantly expand our reach to approximately 30 million fiber passings. This scale accelerates our ability to serve and delight millions more customers with better value, more choices and a massive platform for innovation and growth.”

Verizon kicked off its offer for Verizon Wireless customers within the Frontier footprint on Thursday, Jan. 22. The offer is good for 1 Gig Fiber plans with autopay, for both new and existing Verizon Wireless customers. After the six months are over, participating customers will be eligible for an ongoing discount of $15 per month on their bundled home and internet services.

New customers qualify for the free trial, but existing Frontier Fiber customers may qualify only for the $15 monthly bundling discount. If you have a Frontier Fiber 2 Gig plan, or one that’s even faster, you can also get a credit for up to $10 a month for one of Verizon’s myPlan mobile perks. Those include the following:

  • Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+ (With Ads)
  • Netflix & HBO Max (With Ads)
  • Apple One
  • Apple Music Family
  • YouTube Premium
  • And more

When Verizon takes over for Frontier, however, its monthly home internet prices could increase by $10 to $30 per month.

It’s hard to know how soon prices and branding could change, but keep an eye on our expert review of Verizon Home Internet for the latest.
