Raleigh Residential Internet Coverage

The centrally located city of Raleigh is home to many local national internet service providers. Fiber is currently growing in availability in Raleigh.

Centurylink Prism has a fiber network that covers select central and southern neighborhoods, including Hillsborough, Wade, Glenwood, and Falls of Neuse. This is the same service area for CenturyLink DSL coverage.

Through AT&T, residents and businesses have access to DSL, fiber internet, or both. Coverage is available in all of Raleigh, extending well beyond the city limits in all directions.

Frontier Communications offers high-speed coverage to a small area in northwest Raleigh, which includes the areas surrounding the Raleigh-Durham International Airport.

Via Time Warner Cable, any of Raleigh's neighborhoods can access speedy cable internet. Service runs through the neighborhoods of East Raleigh, Six Forks, Mordecai, and Five Points.

Google Fiber finally came to my area, so I canceled the Spectrum internet service I had. It took over an hour for Spectrum to fully process my cancellation. Then I was told, I would get a refund. Today, I called in, and according to the new representative, that was incorrect information, and Spectrum does not prorate service. Meaning they required I pay $90 for the 2 days I used their services. I highly recommend using a different provider. Highly do not recommend.

I spoke with an agent through the chat regarding some internet issues I was having. I got it resolved and asked about upgrade options since I have been with Spectrum since 2018. I was told by the agent, Christine, that I could call the Customer Loyalty Team to see about getting an upgrade at a discounted price for being a loyal customer. She told me: "Now I also see that you have been a loyal customer with us since 2018. What you can do is also contact our customer loyalty team to see how they can upgrade you with a discounted option." I got the number, waited a reasonable amount of time on hold, and another agent got on the line. I explained that I was told I could call this number and see about upgrade options at a discount for being a loyal customer. The agent on the phone told me that they don't have a Customer Loyalty Team and there are no upgrades available at a discount. I really don't appreciate that I was lied to and the agent on the phone was very condescending in his tone when I mentioned this information. I asked why it shows online that there are faster internet speeds available for $20-$30 less than what I am paying and he admitted that the prices online are for new customers and will eventually raise in price to what I'm paying now but if I wanted faster options "then you would have to pay more, obviously." His tone and such was just really off putting. I understand that better costs more, however when I'm told that I could get a discount for being a "loyal customer" who has never been late on the bill and have NEVER had any issues until recently, that it isn't an option and get met with a tone as if I'm an idiot for believing it, was just plain rude. There was no "I'm sorry but..." just "That's not a thing, there is the billing department and tech support." No real empathy or customer support when I get lied to by another department.

Our service for a number or residents in our building went down a week ago. Our service is still down with no ETA when it will be fixed. We may be down for weeks which in today's day and time is unacceptable.
