Phoenix Residential Internet Coverage

Living in the Valley of the Sun, you have access to some blazing fast internet services. CenturyLink offers speeds up to 1 Gbps (1,000 Mbps) in some areas, and Cox Communications reaches speeds up to 300 Mbps. Those speeds are both dramatically faster than the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) broadband standard of 25 Mbps, so you should have no problems with online gaming or streaming in 4KHD, even with a large family.

Both CenturyLink and Cox, the two biggest Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in the Phoenix area, offer service to virtually the whole valley. Plus, a few other providers have smaller service areas sprinkled throughout the city. So, while most of Phoenix can get internet service from CenturyLink or Cox, there may be additional options in certain neighborhoods.

The CenturyLink service area covers most of Phoenix and Mesa. It stretches from Creek to South Mountain and from Sun City to Apache Junction. But it misses the Salt River Reservation.

Cox offers internet service across virtually the same area as CenturyLink in Phoenix, but the coverage areas diverge outside the city.

Mediacom also offers internet service in a few neighborhoods in Glendale and Mesa.

Highest-Rated Internet Service Providers in Phoenix

Cox outranks CenturyLink by most metrics. In our 2018 independent customer satisfaction survey, Cox got higher scores in nearly every category. CenturyLink outscored Cox slightly in the monthly bill category, but Cox led in overall satisfaction, speed, installation and setup, tech support and customer service, and reliability.

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) also ranks Cox ahead of CenturyLink. Cox Communications has an A rating with the BBB in the Phoenix area. CenturyLink is not accredited by the BBB.

J.D. Power ranks Cox as the top Internet Service Provider (ISP) in the West. It beat out some big names, including CenturyLink, AT&T, Spectrum, and Xfinity.

Internet connection is horrible. Customer service is horrible and rude. Company is a con. Paying for no service is wrong. I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone. Run. Find a reputable company and service.

I have had cox in AZ for 3yrs. Signed up 7 months ago for the government assistance program because of their high prices and needed out for work. When I started with cox they have a 1.2gb cap I never went over on. When I got the assistance program ($30 off bill) I somehow went over the cap every month and that is having less items connected. Went from 4 tvs and 4 phones 2 computers. Down to 2 tvs, 2 phones and 1 computer. So how is it I cut my connected items in half and yet my usage goes way up? Cox are crooks. Service is decent but price is high. No other fiber in AZ so I'm stuck for now and not going to a phone company or satellite to get much worse connection speed.
