If you can get CenturyLink fiber internet, you can add Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephone service to your monthly plan. There are minor differences in phone equipment depending on which plan you choose, but all plans come with unlimited local and national long-distance calling.
If you can get only DSL from CenturyLink, you can sign up for a traditional landline phone with the Simply Unlimited Phone plan. You get unlimited nationwide calling and can pay extra if you need to make international calls. Plus, the phones work in power outages.
CenturyLink deals for tight budgets
CenturyLink doesn’t offer specific plans for low-income households, but you may qualify for the federal Lifeline program, which offers a $9.25 monthly bill credit to certain families. That discount is available on all CenturyLink internet plans.

CenturyLink offers straightforward plans and prices instead of flashy short-term promotions, and I think customers benefit. You may qualify for free or discounted installation and Wi-Fi gear, and there are perks like discounts on parental control software. If you love your service, you can earn $50 to $100 for every friend you refer.
CenturyLink DSL isn’t as fast as CenturyLink Fiber, but both internet types are wired. That can make them more reliable than over-the-air internet from satellite or 5G home internet providers, and you won’t have to worry about slowdowns when the network is congested.
CenturyLink is priced right, and there are no contracts or data limits. It’s worth a try, especially if you’ve had trouble with other local providers or live far from a city center.
