Independence Residential Internet Coverage

Thanks to its proximity to Kansas City, the city of Independence is part of many large service providers_ networks.

Consider Centurylink Prism, which offers fiber service to the northeastern part of the city. Neighborhoods within the service area include River Bend, Susquehanna Ridge, Lake City, and Selsa. CenturyLink also offers DSL service, and their DSL network is extremely similar to their fiber network.

Through AT&T, those in almost every main Independence neighborhood can choose fiber, DSL, or both. Some far eastern neighborhoods fall outside the service area, including Lake City and Woods Chapel.

The expansive network of Xfinity allows all of Independence to enjoy access to high-speed cable service.

The rival to Xfinity, Time Warner Cable offers high-speed cable coverage to some western neighborhoods, including Mount Washington, Fairmount, and Englewood. Coverage stops short of the Quail Creek area, although the network does extend north of the city limits beyond the Missouri River.

Blackmail you to keep landline or they'll halve your DSL speed. Paying $115/mo for 6Mbs ! Threaten 3 if I drop my phone.

There service is slow and their customer service is worse. Paying way too much for my internet to drop as much as is it. One day they said it was the router, so they said they'd send us an upgraded router. They sent us the same one we already had. Called back and then we were told it was because the lines were being worked on... but it's been happening for 4-5 weeks. We were told that we can only get a one time payment credit for this issue even though it's been going on for two billing cycles. We pay for their top of the line service and get subpar service in exchange. I had better internet service when I was in Iraq and Afghanistan. It's that pathetic

I would give less than 1 star, but it wasn't available. I am so exasperated that for over 3 years I have to call and argue my bill every month. I get switched from representative to representative, to managers, then connected with their loyalty department to be told over and over the same thing. Even after explaining to each and every person over and over, I get the same response. I have been yelled at, called names, hung up on, been promised a return call, evaluation of my bill, been promised that this is the last time I should ever have to call, but it is all lies! They never get my bill the same 2 months in a row, they never bill the correct amount, and they refuse to fix my bill to what we all agreed to in the store. I went to the store for the first year and met with the manager and he adjusted things for a while, then was told I had to work with customer service. NEVER do a BOGO, it is a ploy to suck you in for 30 months and rob you blind. Today, again, I was told, well just go ahead and pay the incorrect amount and we'll do an investigation. Someone will contact you in the next 5-7 days...again. They never do, I'm screwed again. I spend hours and multiple phone calls every month trying to just get my bill fixed so I can pay it. I believe AT&T does this intentionally to wear down their customers and they're making profits hand over fist out of robbing their customers blind. I'm exasperated and counting the months until my BOGO (that I'm still having to pay in full for both phones on) is complete in October. Once it is paid, I am going to an honest company. They tell you whatever you want to hear when you are signing up, but there is not follow through, consistency or ethics with this company. I believe this is the most dishonest, crooked company I have ever had to deal with. They are shysters, liars and crooked. Whatever they say cannot be trusted!

The installation time was ridiculous. I had several problems at first and it took me hours on the phone doing the work myself to get it sorted out. Discontinued service soon after I ordered it...
