The least reliable Internet Service Provider I have ever dealt with. Never had these problems with Optimum, but at my current location - Spectrum is the only game in town. If you have a choice - do NOT go with Spectrum. All they need is to add an eye patch and a parrot to their logo.

The least reliable internet service provider I've ever dealt with. They have outages day and night, at least once per month. I've missed my deadlines and I've missed sleep, because I had to wait for the service to get restored. And they are unreasonably expensive. Last night they had another outage (now it's day time... still out). I demanded a 50% reduction of my bill... they offered me $5. They are the only game in town for my area, so I don't have a choice. Never had this problem with Optimum. If you have a choice - do NOT pick Spectrum.

RCN

We were with RCN for almost 2 years already and I'm quite impressed with their service and speed. I've never had trouble as I have had with other companies in which my connection would be limited or die down often. The speeds always come out to be very close to the advertised stats, sometimes going to 1.5 times as much promised, even throughout the day when others are actively using their services. The pricing is my only concern, as providers have adapted this increasing price plan where you're guaranteed a great price as a new customer, but it just keeps going up each year. If it weren't for the hefty costs, RCN would score perfectly.

Had an install set for later in the afternoon. Got a call that morning and the said they could be there in the morning instead of afternoon. That was a plus for me. Guy wore booties and installed everything seamlessly. Never had any service disruptions that couldn't be fixed with a simple reset. Even those are few and far between. Speed is good, I don't see much room for complaining for the tier I'm on. Much better than the other providers in NYC, I'd say.
