I would recommend TDS because any time that I have ever needed customer support for varying reasons, I was able to speak to a human being, a person. Several customer service agents have helped me with numerous internet-related issues in the past 7 years. The service is always quick. The people are very nice.

Our builders accidentally covered up our CSPIRE cable box. The maintenance person worked diligently to find the box, and restore service. He was a very personable young man, and actually was able to work with the crew by speaking Spanish to the people that had actually covered the outlet.

I called AT&T today to have my service moved to a new address. I had Direct TV, my phone and my internet to move, all by AT&T. I was on the phone for 2 hours (Continuously) and I talked to 6 people. I was placed on hold for 10 minutes by #6. My wife then called and talked to a supervisor, I hung up. She was then on the phone for over an hour. Terrible service. Most of the people we talked to were obviously from another country. It sounded like a Mexican call center. Could not understand many times. AT&T you should be ashamed for this kind of service.

Viasat has terrible customer service. We have had 4-5 scheduled visits to repair a box issue (we aren’t getting internet service). They have never showed up, and they don’t call until after they miss the appointment (each time). Every time they have cancelled. They say each time they can’t come because the new box hasn’t arrived. It’s been 4 months and their service is pathetic. We will probably end up logging a complaint with the BBB.

I don't really understand how you are supposed to rate "service" or "speed" when there ISN'T ANY! Give them "credit" though, they absolutely bill you on time. That part of their system is flawless. If you want internet meh 20% of the time, these guys are for you!

Methodology

HighSpeedInternet.com compares internet providers within cities and metro areas to give customers the most relevant insights into their internet options. When comparing providers, we consider the following:

  • Provider coverage areas
  • Advertised speeds
  • Real-world speeds (speed test data)
  • Customer feedback
  • Other relevant localized data

We source localized coverage data displayed on our coverage maps from the FCC coverage database, which is updated every six months. For the most current summary of providers in your area, we recommend you use our zip code search tool, which offers the most recent coverage data straight from internet service providers (ISPs).

Our city overviews compare advertised provider speeds. We may also include real-world speed data gathered from millions of annual speed test results. To process our speed test data, we first filter out outliers and providers with low test counts. We then calculate speed averages with every ISP subject to the same parameters.

We gather ISP customer feedback data from our comprehensive annual surveys and direct customer feedback submitted to HighSpeedInternet.com. Unless stated otherwise, average ratings are calculated nationally.
