For the last 2 years i have had the absolute misfortune of being Astound/RCN's customer. I would love to switch as soon as something better is actually available. I have had so many negative experiences, here are just the top few: Tech tried to tell me the problem with the internet dropping out is me having the wrong cable. Told me the cable is RG59 despite RG6 being clearly printed on the cable. I was charged $70 for that visit. I have had 3 visits that charged $70 for minimal work that did not fix the problem. I bought my own router (which fixed the problem) and it was a seamless easy setup- until RCN/Astound got involved. It took 3 hours and multiple calls for them to get it correctly added in their system as the last step. I have had multiple inexplicable price hikes. The money i was going to save by using my own router was immediately washed out because my bill went up. Conveniently they could not match last years promotional price when i removed the rental fee. After almost a full year of awful internet and failed tech visits the first thing they offer me to fix the problem is to buy into their monthly subscription insurance scam. These are just the top reasons. I have many more. If you can avoid this company, do it.
