What is the best internet provider in Philadelphia?

Philadelphia Residential Internet Coverage

In the city of Philadelphia, fiber internet is widely accessible through Verizon Fios. This company_s service area includes key central neighborhoods like Fairmount, Poplar, and Riverfront. The network runs to Byberry in the north and Marconi Plaza in the south. Verizon_s DSL network is also very expansive in this area, reaching all of Philadelphia_s neighborhoods.

Xfinity is one of the main cable providers in this area, covering all of Philadelphia and extending beyond the city limits to surrounding communities.

RCN has a slightly more limited service area that includes the eastern coastal neighborhoods of Riverfront, Fishtown, and Pennsport. Part of Eastwick in the far west is also in the RCN service area.

Through Level 3 Communications, those in many of Philadelphia_s key neighborhoods enjoy reliable internet access. Service stops short of Kensington and Richmond in the coastal part of the city, as well as Grays Ferry and Girard Estates in the west. However, most central and eastern neighborhoods are within the Level 3 Communications service area.

Most of Philadelphia falls within the Megapath service area, although there is a slight gap in coverage in Fairmount and Spring Garden.

The coastal neighborhoods of Pennsport, Riverfront, and Fishtown are part of the Cogent Communication network.

Finally, the network of TOAST.net runs to the city limits in all four directions.

Terrible service but slightly better than the dreadful service at Verizon. The bill looks like it was prepared for first graders. Prices are ridicuously high. Service can be problematic and we need to reboot the modem often. I may switch to get better pricing when I see an offer that provides savings. Why is this a monopoly? It certainly doesn't benefit the American puiblic.

My internet has been fast, without lagging. I have never had problems with my internet dropping or any difficulty with streaming videos from netflix or streams of football games.

I have had FiOS for over a year now with no problems. The speed is excellent, and it never cuts out. Unlike Comcast, I pay for a certain speed and actually have close to it.
