Almost 10% of this workforce telecommutes. The middle-income residents rely on internet to keep in touch with employers and clients while they work from home. They also depend on the internet to help them stay in touch with family members who've been deployed in service of their country.
CenturyLink offers DSL to 78% of Jacksonville residents around Camp Lejune. Cable internet connections are shared between Time Warner Spectrum and Charter. Time Warner Spectrum provides connectivity to 61% of homes around the Angola Swamp. Charter reaches 41% of homes from the Hofmann Forest into Fayetteville. Fiber optics have not yet entered the residential space.
In addition to the services offered to residents, MCNC and Level 3 Communications each provide fiber optics to 1% of area businesses.
