DSL:

DSL provides internet service via phone cables and is up to ten times faster than dial-up service.

Cable:

Cable provides internet speeds faster than DSL through the same cables used for cable TV.

Satellite:

Satellite internet is widely available, but offers slower speeds due to a far-traveling signal.

Fiber:

Fiber relies on glass strands to relay digital code and is much faster than both DSL and cable.

Absolute circus of a company. Their call center doesn't have a single person who speaks English as their first language. They speak English, but I don't think they understand it very well. Their install process involves, (as far as I can tell) three separate third party companies, who by the way, they can't call or communicate with, nor will they share contact info with you. They also, can't give you any type of estimate on when the work will be done. I've been trying to get fiber installed for over 3 weeks now. I can understand their lack of urgency though as they are the only fiber provider in this region of TX currently. When a competitor arrives, Brightspeed will lose many customers. Their actual field technicians are extremely overworked and have very limited access to accounts or information regarding required steps for install completion. When you ask the customer support any questions on timeline, their common response is, "I can't tell you that", and it's the truth. They can't, because they simply don't know. If you are in a region where Brightspeed is your only fiber option, good luck. I hope it works out for you. I'm guessing the install will eventually get completed, and I will then be very concerned about actual bandwidth delivery, reliability and support.

Frequent signal degradation. Fixes typically last about 12 hours. Their service people are very nice. But the service is unreliable for critical usage, like working online from home. I am so disappointed.

Worse service ever! It was offline almost as much as online. I was supposed to receive up to 10mbs and had an average of 2 mbs. Customer service was terrible and unresponsive! I canceled the service and customer service would not prorate my last payment. I returned there equipment on the date my service termination. They continue to try to bill me for equipment I returned! I have noticed that many of my neighbors have also changed to Nextlink, the company I choose.
