Hampton Residential Internet Coverage

Positioned on a Virginia peninsula that sits just north of Norfolk, the city of Hampton is a major tourist attraction and commercial hub for the people of Virginia.

Within this city, residents and businesses get extremely fast fiber internet from Verizon Fios. Almost all of Hampton has access to the Verizon fiber network, except parts of Foxhill, Phoebus, and Buckroe. Verizon has a broader service map that spans all of Hampton and extends into outlying northern, western, and southern communities. This includes the Langley Air Force Base Area and the northwest part of Foxhill, which borders the Back River.

Through Megapath, those living in the central and northern neighborhoods of Hampton enjoy high-speed internet service. In the west, included neighborhoods are Northampton, Aberdeen, and Greater Wythe. Northern neighborhoods in the service area include Magruder and Mercury Central. In the eastern half of the city, service reaches into North King and part of Foxhill.

Hughesnet

The connection is effected by the rain and bad weather. Many times no connection. The status meter is good and keeps you from going over. A bit expensive for what you get. I worry about our tree falling on the receiver in bad weather. I will not recommend Hughes to anyone with in the city limits. If you are in a remote area and no other service is around then it is your answer.

We have recently moved to Virginia and this is our first time using Cox Communications. I am not sure if it normal for having long outages, slow speed, and overall crappy internet with this provider but that is what we have. We do get a good rate due to subscribing through our apartment complex and I am wondering if that is the root of the problem, not Cox themselves. Overall unreliable service.
