Roanoke Residential Internet Coverage

The city of Roanoke, encompassing the Roanoke Regional Airport and dozens of neighborhoods south of this region, is served by many different internet service providers. While the city does not yet have a widespread fiber internet provider, it does have access to DSL, cable, and satellite coverage.

Through Verizon, almost the entirety of Roanoke can choose DSL coverage.

Additionally, Xfinity is one of the largest cable providers in this part of Virginia. Coverage is available as far east as Mecca Gardens and as far west as Cherry Hill. The central part of the city falls outside the coverage map; this includes the areas of West End, Gilmer, Gainsboro, and Harrison. The southcentral part of Roanoke is also outside the Xfinity coverage area.

Cox Communications has an established presence in Roanoke, coverage stopping just short of Riverdale and Wildwood in the east.

Through Lumos Networks, those in all of Roanoke's main neighborhoods enjoy high-speed internet service.

Service has been fast and responsive. Pricing is a little over our budget plan but the speed and reliability make it acceptable. So far, what minor problems we've had, have been solved thru courteous customer service.

We have used service for four months. My wife is a graphic designer working from home. The speed is adequate for our needs. Some time experience slow down on weekend and peak periods since we live in an apartment. Customer service has been very good from the installation to present online help.
