Xfinity is one of the largest cable internet providers in the nation. It offers a variety of high-value plans packing great speeds and reliability. And unlike the competition, Xfinity doesn’t charge extra for equipment or hit you with early termination fees. Plus, Xfinity has no data caps, making it a great option for those who are on the hunt for a budget-friendly plan with unlimited data.

For the average household, the 500 Mbps plan delivers the most bang for your buck. At $55 per month, it finds a good balance between speed and price. In the age of gigabit plans, 500Mbps may not seem as impressive a speed as it once did, but even by modern usage standards, it’s a lot of bandwidth.

At $100, Xfinity’s install fee is something you want to try to avoid by opting to self-install. The Xfinity Gateway is included with all plans at no extra cost and you can manage your home network with the Xfinity app. Luckily, Xfinity plans do not require a term contract. But keep in mind that promo pricing ends after 12 months.
Xfinity installation
For $100, Xfinity sends a technician to your residence to connect your home to its network and set up your equipment. If your residence already has an active Xfinity internet connection, you can just self-install for free. Keep in mind that the professional installation fee will vary depending on where you live.
Self-installation with Xfinity is easy. All you need to do is connect your equipment to power and connect an active coaxial cable to the back of the modem. From there, the Xfinity app walks you through the rest of the process.
Xfinity equipment
Most new Xfinity customers will get an Xfinity Gateway, a modem/router combo that runs on the DOCSIS 3.1. protocol. The Gateway has tri-band Wi-Fi, four Ethernet ports, and advanced security. It also integrates well with the Xfinity App’s control and troubleshooting features.

Xfinity internet plans don’t require a contract. With no term contracts required, you won’t have to worry about early termination fees.

Fiber is both faster and more reliable than cable internet, and comes with the benefit of symmetrical speeds (faster upload speed compared to cable).
