I have been a spectrum customer for over 10 years at the same address. I have had constant issues with connectivity, speed, and poor customer service. I am a gig speed. Customer and I have never received a gig speed service. I have been constantly told that my modem is not compatible. The modem is a spectrum supplied modem finally a service technician discovered that the modem was not the correct model for my service. However, it was going to take 10 business days for them to send me a new one which would have meant. I would’ve had zero Internet service for 10 days Instead I went around the corner and bought a brand new modem. I called spectrum they provisioned my modem and my speed worked well for a few weeks then I started having connectivity and speed issues again never reaching gig speeds. I called multiple times and spent hours on the phone with customer service agents who were rude condescending, and constantly blaming bad Equipment. I decided to downgrade my service as $125 per month for gig. Speed was way too expensive, especially when I was not receiving the service I was paying for when I called to downgrade my service. I was told that because I was in the middle of a billing cycle they could not change my service and they do not prorate the bill so the downgrade and service and billing would not change for another two weeks. That same night I had another outage. I got on the chat Support again they tried to blame my modem. I finally got to an agent who agreed to send out a service tech to my home. When the service technician arrived, he discovered bad coaxial cables coming to my home. This has been the cause of my service issues for years. After he left, I ran a speed test and I was showing speed at 500 mb, which is not the speed I had already paid for nor the speed that I was guaranteed to get. After calling customer service and being transferred to a tier 3 technician, he discovered that I was provisioned at the lower speed the entire time. Not only did spectrum lie about the speeds that they were providing. They were rude to me as a customer and charged me for higher service. I cannot recommend spectrum due to their shady business practices, and terrible customer service.

See internet providers in nearby cities.

Live in a small town or suburb outside of Riverbank? We got you covered, too.

Methodology

HighSpeedInternet.com compares internet providers within cities and metro areas to give customers the most relevant insights into their internet options. When comparing providers, we consider the following:

  • Provider coverage areas
  • Advertised speeds
  • Real-world speeds (speed test data)
  • Customer feedback
  • Other relevant localized data

We source localized coverage data displayed on our coverage maps from the FCC coverage database, which is updated every six months. For the most current summary of providers in your area, we recommend you use our zip code search tool, which offers the most recent coverage data straight from internet service providers (ISPs).

Our city overviews compare advertised provider speeds. We may also include real-world speed data gathered from millions of annual speed test results. To process our speed test data, we first filter out outliers and providers with low test counts. We then calculate speed averages with every ISP subject to the same parameters.

We gather ISP customer feedback data from our comprehensive annual surveys and direct customer feedback submitted to HighSpeedInternet.com. Unless stated otherwise, average ratings are calculated nationally.
