I pay for 200MB. at least once a week it drops to 9MB Down and 3MB up. I tried chatting with support on several occasions. The last time I spoke with 4 techs in an hour none of them did anything to try to resolve the problem. Their script is about stall until the customer gives up.

ViaSat is painfully slow and overpriced. It is impossible to watch any streaming programming, without experiencing endless hours of buffering. And as bad as their service is, their "customer service" is worse.

The FIOS service started great with Verizon, ok after Frontier bought them, but customer service was horrible and slow, but they did have working automated systems and live bodies to talk with if you waited for 30-60 minutes on hold... now that Ziply bought Frontier out, our internet service has experienced many outages, sometimes happening multiple times a day, but typically only for 5-10 minutes at a time. Today it has been out for over an hour. Their website states that there are no outages in our area and sends you to an automated troubleshooter that is experiencing errors and not working, their online live chat states that it is after hours (it’s 1:15pm Pacific time) and their automated phone menu is stuck in an endless loop that recognizes my phone number, has me confirm the account number twice, and gives me the choice to select 1 to pay my bill or select 2 for all other options. After selecting 2 it asks for my account number... after punching that in, it loops back to the main menu where you can only choose 1 to pay you bill or 2 to go to all other options... the only other ISP with fast speeds in our area is Comcast... not thrilled with the idea of moving to a cable company, but I may give it a go.

We had trouble with internet shutting off at random times. It was really annoying. Some days it was just every other minute, for a little bit, to hours of no internet. We asked if they could come over to fix and they ran a new wire. It didn't solve anything. The new cable they ran, has a box to go to our coax cable has open wiring. VERY DANGEROUS!! I am currently looking into a new internet provider!

See internet providers in nearby cities.

Live in a small town or suburb outside of Hillsboro? We got you covered, too.

Methodology

HighSpeedInternet.com compares internet providers within cities and metro areas to give customers the most relevant insights into their internet options. When comparing providers, we consider the following:

  • Provider coverage areas
  • Advertised speeds
  • Real-world speeds (speed test data)
  • Customer feedback
  • Other relevant localized data

We source localized coverage data displayed on our coverage maps from the FCC coverage database, which is updated every six months. For the most current summary of providers in your area, we recommend you use our zip code search tool, which offers the most recent coverage data straight from internet service providers (ISPs).

Our city overviews compare advertised provider speeds. We may also include real-world speed data gathered from millions of annual speed test results. To process our speed test data, we first filter out outliers and providers with low test counts. We then calculate speed averages with every ISP subject to the same parameters.

We gather ISP customer feedback data from our comprehensive annual surveys and direct customer feedback submitted to HighSpeedInternet.com. Unless stated otherwise, average ratings are calculated nationally.
