Technology Type

DSL:

DSL provides internet service via phone cables and is up to ten times faster than dial-up service.

Cable:

Cable provides internet speeds faster than DSL through the same cables used for cable TV.

Satellite:

Satellite internet is widely available, but offers slower speeds due to a far-traveling signal.

Fiber:

Fiber relies on glass strands to relay digital code and is much faster than both DSL and cable.

16-year customer w.Time Warner/ Earthlink and then grandfathered into Comcast/ Xfinity. Broadband connection only, and overall no memorable problems over these years. Until now. Months have gone by with "crappy" signal to the drop box in the neighbor's yard (according to two techs). A "noise issue" that will be dealt with in time I am told, but no estimated completion date provided. I have been very patient, but in no way rewarded for it, so now switching to Tachus. In calling for tech help there is no way to bypass the never ending questions that relate to my equipment. I was told that no living customer has ever manged to reach the engineering group where the problem lies. Talking to the technicians is the closest one will come to that, but they do not deal with the Comcast backbone. Number of stars is based on service received over 14 years. Now a waste since they are not taking hold of the problems in this neighborhood. Seems as if they expect it to be resolved through attrition, but I have run out of time for that and the billing amounts remain the same for low/no speed as what is promised.

This is coaxial. Download speed is good around 800 Mbps. Lately it had been failing a lot. At least twice a month. Upload speed is LOW only 50 Mbps not enough for having recording cameras and store in the cloud.
