Aurora Residential Internet Coverage

Aurora, one of the main western suburbs of Chicago, has many established neighborhoods and business districts that depend on high-speed internet access.

AT&T, one of the largest providers in Illinois, offers an expansive network in Aurora. DSL is accessible in almost the entire city of Aurora, while the fiber internet is still being built out in this area. The DSL network runs to Orchard Road in the west, Marywood in the north, Frontenac in the east, and Carle Drive in the south.

The cable network of Xfinity is just as expansive, reaching all of Aurora's neighborhoods and extending into neighboring communities.

Mediacom has a fairly large network that covers much of western Aurora. Coverage begins west of Inverness Drive in neighborhoods like Scraper, South Park, and Marywood.

The network provided by WOW! reaches a few far eastern Aurora communities. These neighborhoods include Asbury Drive, Ogden Avenue, and Frontenac.

Switched to xfinity in April and had problems one week later, digital distortion- screen freezing and no picture. Contact service and they check equipment and was told all looks ok. Contacted them when it went out and was told that there was a line problem, can’t get a technician to come out to check the line. They cancel the service appointment because when they check the equipment the system is working.

Normally good service, until Rush hour, then Home Internet is starved to serve Cell phone users. Would not suggest the service for VOIP home phone users.

Generally good service except during rush hours. Broadband drops to unacceptable speeds during morning and afternoon rush hours. Preference is probably being giving to Cell phone users while T-Mobile Internet users are given what's left over. When using our VOIP phone calls are often broken up if not completely dropped. During non-rush hours speeds are quite acceptable for the price.

A problem I find with my provider is that not all areas are covered the same, plus the plan pricing is on the high side.

I think that Comcast/Xfinity could definitely improve their cable service. They have improved internet speed, but it goes off temporarily at least three times per week.
